Q&A

Product sales by Category not showing in GA

We recently upgraded to 1.9x and have the latest Fooman GA+ extension. All settings remained the same in the upgrade and reporting well. Products and Categories changed slightly in our store but nothing major... they're a mix of Simple Products and Configurable (with hidden simple products assigned). We are no longer seeing product sales by Category in GA. I've checked configuration and no attribute is assigned to "Category Tracking Attribute" which should pick the first Category a product in cart is assigned to, correct? Any other ideas as to why this would not be tracking any more? Technically the product pages aren't accessed thru a category landing page, although they all are assigned to a category. They are linked mainly from the homepage directly. I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it since it sounds like the extension will find the first category any product is assigned to. thanks
Asked by: Rich1000
It seems the issue was that 1.9 adds the built-in Universal feature, and that was being confused with Fooman Analytics Plus being enabled. Of course, Fooman includes the category conversions, but the built in does not. Sorry for the confusion, but for anyone that hasn't seen the Universal option added into core Magento, it is a little confusing to ensure that's disabled, and then enable the Fooman a little further down. Thanks

Will this work if we upgrade to the new Universal Analytics?

Hi - I just wanted to know if you have tested the functionality of this module with the new Google Universal Analytics? Will it still work when we upgrade to the new Google Analytics platform?
Asked by: BigShoeZam
Universal Support is now available as well in the Magento Connect release.

Will this extension be upgraded for the transfer to Universal Analytics?

According to Google Analytics documentation users are recommended to upgrade to Universal Analytics as soon as possible. https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/upgrade/ Unfortunately UA does not support remarketing or demographics/interest reports but it will in phase 3. What is the plan to support the new platform? We don't intend to make the switch until Phase 3 when remarketing is supported but I'd like to plan ahead. Thanks!

is this extension using analytics.js or ga.js?

Google are encouraging all users of analytics to move to the Universal Analytics service i.e. use analytics.js rather than ga.js See https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2790010?hl=en-GB Does this extension support Universal Analytics?
Asked by: pglock
This extension now offers support for both universal (analytics.js) and classic analytics (ga.js) depending on your settings.

Error: Fooman_Common required

Hi, when I tried to install this extension, I got a "there's been an error processing your request" screen and the report file showed this error: Module "Fooman_GoogleAnalyticsPlus" requires module "Fooman_Common". If I look at the xml on modules folder, it shows a fooman_common dependency: depends Mage_GoogleAnalytics/ Fooman_Common/ /depends Is fooman_common another extension different from this one that needs to be installed prior to googleanalytics+? If that is the case, you should write somewhere clear on this page. If it is not, how can I solve this problem? thanks
Asked by: luciad
Hi, thanks for your reply. I, in fact, installed it from zip. But installing the two modules separately (common first, analytics+ after common) worked perfectly, thank you again

Content groupings

I would need to add content groupings and add one line after : ga('create', 'UA-123456-789', 'auto'); For instance: ga('set', 'contentGroup1', 'groupname'); Is it possible to modify the tracking code manually with your plugin?
Asked by: offrench
Hi there, Yes, this is possible. To modify it, please copy app/design/frontend/base/default/template/fooman/googleanalyticsplus/universal.phtml to your theme and change it accordingly. Cheers,

Why is this beta?

I noticed that this is still listed as "beta". Are you planning on moving it to "stable" anytime soon?
Asked by: dpalme
Hi there, The extension works but the version on Magento Connect is labeled beta. The reason for this is that every few months either Magento or Google Analytics changes. Cheers,

Do you have a version that is compatible with ENTERPRISE 1.12

Asked by: tribalh
Hi there, Currently there is no officially supported Enterprise version of this extension. Other customers have successfully used the community edition of this extension on Enterprise, it's just that this has not been fully tested by us yet.

Double code

Hi, We keep getting the Analytics code twice in the head. Checked everything and cleared cache, it just keeps being inserted twice. Any idea why? Also, does the demographics and interest feature work out of the box, or do we have to change the code a bit?
Asked by: Paulus
Hi there, The currently released version of Google Analytics has not been marked compatible with this version of Magento (1.8.1) due to changes in Magento's Google Analytics extension. You might want to try the development releases from https://github.com/fooman/googleanalyticsplus which will resolve the double up. The change required for enabling the demographics and interest feature is the same as using Google's Remarketing Script - which is a setting the extension offers. Cheers,

Does this extension support Enhanced E-Commerce?

Hi, I'm looking into this extension and I was wondering if there is support for Enhanced E-Commerce, like described on this page: http://www.practicalecommerce.com/articles/71621-Google-Analytics-Using-New-Enhanced-Ecommerce If it's not in, are you planning to insert it and what will be the timeline in that case? Thanks in advance!
Asked by: gerben1986
Hi there, We currently do not have immediate plans to include Enhanced E-Commerce. Please follow this feature request here https://github.com/fooman/googleanalyticsplus/issues/38 for further updates. Cheers,

Rated out of 5 by from In Germany we don't have the permission to save and log IP-addresses. So, i have disabled in apache2 the saving of IP-addresses in Log files. I also enabled the anonymize of Google Analytics with the Foomann Google Analytics Plus module but remember: Magento show IP-addresses in the Customers online grid. Maybe Fooman can expand his Extension and remove the grid and saving of the IP-Address? When is this Extension stable Release?

Rated out of 5 by from This extension does not work period on 1.7.0 Sure you can add the patch or change the Ga.php file and it will show in google analytics live the steps as your checking out, but it does not show your funnel exits properly. I'm sure people like to see their goals being fulfilled but this is not as much help when you can't see what steps they exited on. I tried head match, exact match, opc links and even without opc links. Finally I even tried applying the ajax listener to the opcheckout.js file. Just does not work no matter how you install it. Hope you can fix this bug soon :)
