Cron Doctor

This extension allows you to see all required information for the essential Cron system which runs all Magentos scheduled tasks. Often there can be failures with code or processes, timeouts, memory errors or issues with third-party modules causing the Cron system to block up.

Extension features:

  • View the complete cron schedule of tasks.
  • Delete Cron entries - useful where process are stuck at processing.
  • Check execution times
  • View all errors produced by any cron tasks.

Please email your questions and suggestions via or send us a PM at Magento site. Feedback is very welcome.

Install Instructions

  1. Stop magento core cron, you can do this via either stop the crond service or simply commenting out the relative line in your cron tab
  2. wait for all cron processes to finish watch -n1 "ps aux | grep cron.php | grep -v grep"
  3. Install the module as normal, via FTP/Git/MCM
  4. Flush both caches
  5. Alter the following configuration options:
     System - Configuration - Advanced | System - Cron
      - "Generate Schedules Every" = 15
      - "Schedule Ahead for" = 20
      - "Missed if Not Run Within" = 0
      - "History Cleanup Every" = [AS DESIRED]
      - "Success History Lifetime" = [AS DESIRED]
      - "Failure History Lifetime" = [AS DESIRED]
  6. Alter your cron job to point to "zero1/cron.php", and restart crond if needed
  7. confirm jobs are running watch -n1 "ps aux | grep cron.php | grep -v grep"
on the minute you should see jobs ending with the following:

Stopping/Starting Cron after installation

If you need to stop cron, from the root of your magento installation: touch zero1/cron_stop.flag watch -n1 "ps aux | grep cron.php | grep -v grep" wait until all jobs are finished. To restart cron: rm zero1/cron_stop.flag you should then be able to see all jobs restarting

Disaster Recover

If cron is stopped with the cron_stop.flag being in place, then you could end up with jobs the are permanently running. This can be observed by going to System > Cron Doctor and checking filtering by status = 'running' if there are more than 2 jobs running there is an issue. enterprise_refresh_index: is an 'always' job, if this job hasn't ran since cron has been started again i.e status == running and executed_at is before cron was stopped, the status of this job will need changing (to anything but 'running') Every other job is the same principle as enterprise_refresh_index. N.B you should expect 0 - 2 jobs running at anyone time if there are 2 jobs running 1 of them should be enterprise_refresh_index, if this is not the case there is an issue.

how to edit zero1_crondoctor_zombie_check time/expression

As title says how to edit zero1_crondoctor_zombie_check time/expression
Asked by: azfarhus
Hi Azfarhus, If you edit the "app/code/community/Zero1/Crondoctor/etc/config.xml" file and change the following line you can amend the cron timings. <cron_expr>* * * * *</cron_expr> For example if you would like it to run every 5 minutes you can use this... <cron_expr>*/5 * * * *</cron_expr> Hope that helps, if you have any issues please feel free to raise a ticket by emailing Regards, Zero-1 Ltd

After installation, admin panel was gone

After a successful installation of this module, my admin panel went blank, nothing was loading anymore. I had to go to /downloader and uninstalled it. I'm using 1.9.2 CE. Not gonna give a bad review, since it might have something to do with the newest magento release.
Asked by: champion327
Hi Champion327, I can confirm that the module does work on all newest versions of Magento, so this shouldn't be expected. Can you confirm after installing that you logged out and back in again and cleared all cache? If you are still having issues with the module please raise a ticket with us by emailing and I can make sure its picked up and looked at straight away for you. Thanks, Zero-1 Ltd.

Asked by: Rene_de_Groot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic for seeing what cron tasks are running. We installed this so that we can see what cron tasks are running and know if they are completing properly since our server was randomly going down in the middle of the night. It was a quick install with no issues and taught us a lot about our cron task processes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works The dev should put an example image of how the product works. Anyway highly recommended and should have been in magento by standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ended up perfect Had a tiny problem with installation (probably my fault) but razor sharp customer service sorted it out in hours. Does exactly what it says on the tin. I am on Community 1.9.1 Highly recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as intended I used to use a custom php script to check cron jobs but this is much more secure since it's in the actual admin. Also it lets you delete old jobs that got stuck, something that can only be done with editing the database manually otherwise. Very nice job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Useful, Does Exactly What It's Meant To Installed this on Enterprise v1.13 without any problems. Shows you exactly what's in your cron table, when it executed, the status, etc. It's really upsetting that this functionality isn't native to Magento, but this plugin successfully bridges the gap.
