The InnoDB storage engine for MySQL is required for Magento. Here’s how to check if this is enabled:

  1. Open up phpMyAdmin
  2. Click on the Storage Engines link on the main screen
  3. If InnoDB is enabled, it will show up in blue:

You can also check if InnoDB is enabled from shell. Connect to MySQL and run the following query:

  1. SHOW ENGINES;

You should see output similar to the following:

mysql> SHOW ENGINES;
