Is Fooman Speedster Advanced right for my Store?
Fooman Speedster Advanced is a free extension which has been tested with the default Magento themes. However, there is always a risk that minifying and combining Javascript files can produce Javascript errors. We do not recommend using Fooman Speedster Advanced without thorough testing on a test site if:
• Your store already contains minified files
• Significant Javascript customisation work has been done on your store and the added non-default Javascript files do not follow best practice Javascript (you can test with http://jslint.com/)
• Your store uses Jquery (or has extensions installed which use Jquery) - although a workaround is provided in the instructions, almost 100% of reported errors are from stores which also use Jquery

Important: Please uninstall the original Fooman Speedster before installing Fooman Speedster Advanced.

Fooman Speedster Advanced 10 10Nic extension thanks for nic extension, improve my speed up issue June 13, 2013Just a heads-up I had some trouble with Javascript (no plugins would load) after enabling JS Optimization in Config > Developer. Turns out it was because of already minified plugins such as jquery.min.js jquery.ui.min.js jquery.jcarousel.min.js , etc For whatever reason unkown to me, already minified JS will break optimization Cheers! May 24, 2013Works great on 1.7.0.2 While the older Fooman Speedster extensions cause an strange behavoir of my css styles - this Fooman Speedster Advanced works perfect :) April 30, 2013Theme optimizer doesn't work I installed the previoues version and the theme optimizer didn't work. Then I upgraded to the latest version, however it still gives the following error when I run the theme oprimizer: Fatal error: Call to a member function getName() on a non-object in /home/user/public_html/gmrteste/app/code/core/Mage/Tag/Block/Product/Result.php on line 108 Fyi, I'm using this add-on on ver 1.7.0.2 Looking forward to hearing the workaround for this matter and hats off to the developer for the great add-on! April 10, 2013Doesn't work on SSL Seems to work well on the http side of the site. Doesn't work for the https portion of the site. Here's the problem (: In the boxes.css style sheet, there is this code: .header { background:url(../images/header.png) } On the http, this image loads correctly at: http://www.example.com/frontend/default/child/images/header.png But on the https, the url shows up as: /html/skin/frontend/default/child/css/images/header.png This isn't even a proper URL. Another glitch: After uploading this extension, I've noticed numerous times in the admin section that I will be on a page, such as system_config/edit/section/dev/ and after I click the Save button, it will take me to the Dashboard page instead of keeping me on the page I was just on. This only started happening after installing this extension. I just uninstalled the extension, and now the admin works correct again. In conclusion, the benefit of this extension is that when you upload a change to your css file, it changes the name of the merged css file so you don't have to purge your CDN to get the newest version of it and your frequent visitors who already have your css file cached will be forced to download the newest version. But, this product is in beta and on Magento 1.5, it simply didn't work. Great concept though, and I appreciate the developer offer this to the community. February 5, 2013Installed speedster advanced and it works great! on CE 1.7.0.2. I have not tried out the theme optimiser though. Also on a side note, both my jquery and prototype are served by google cdn instead. Hence, they were not packaged together by speedster advance. December 25, 2012I had problems with the install of the original Speedster. The developer though was quick in his response to my enquiry and suggested to try the advanced version. This worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever for my site. PageSpeed score jumped from 18 to 59 ... that's pretty impressive for a free extension! Take the Speedster quiz to determine which version of Fooman Speedster is best suited to your needs:
1. Do you use Magento Version 1.4 or above?
2. Does your server send Far Future Expire Headers?
3. Does your server send gzip content?
4. Did you understand the last two questions?
If you answered 'NO' to any of the four questions, you should install the original Fooman Speedster extension.
