Would like to make your site more SEO-friendly, but have no time for this? Having appropriate meta tags on all product and category pages is absolutely essential for SEO. However if you will think over and type meta tags manually for each individual product and category - boredom and annoyance will become your "best" friends pretty soon (particularly, if you have many products in stock). Cure this with Meta Tags Templates, which will automatically generate proper meta tags for your product and category pages based on the specified attributes!
With Meta Tags Templates you can very quickly create category descriptions, full and short product descriptions. This can be extremely helpful when you need to launch your website fast and don't have enough time to write all descriptions - you can create a few templates and have descriptions generated for any number of products and categories literally within minutes.
For categories you can have separate templates for top level and subcategories. For products you can create a separate template for each category, e.g. a template for product from category DVDs. This insures maximal relevance of meta tags and great SEO results.

If description or meta tag fields of a product or category are empty, the extension will dynamically generate content for them based on product and category attributes. This saves website admin a huge amount of time, as there will be no need to manually enter the data. At the same time it is still possible to specify meta information and descriptions for a product or category and they will not be overwritten by the automatic algorithm.You can create a separate template for products for each category, e.g. a template for products from category Books.
It is possible to add a separate template for each category and store view. For example you add template, which will apply only for products from category Shirts and only on English store view. For the template you can specify page title, meta keywords, meta description, short product description and full product description. If a product belongs to several categories, only one template will be applied - the one for the lowest level category. If it's empty, a higher level category or general template will be used.Despite automation, admin has full control over meta content and descriptions.
Admin can specify templates for descriptions and meta tags. It is possible to have separate templates for each store view. The following variables can be used for description and meta tag templates:- all attributes values, like {color}, {brand}, {price}, {special_price}, etc
- store info: {store_view}, {store}, {website}
- categories info: {category} for current category and {categories} for full category list (as in the breadcrumbs).
- {final_price} for final product price excluding tax and {final_price_incl_tax} for final product price including tax.
So to get a meta title of the kind ‘Buy black Nike sneakers for $99 only at MyWebsite.com!’ for all your products you will need just to create a template ‘Buy {color} {brand} {name} for {price} only at {website}!’. It works on analogy for meta description.
Advanced parsing options.
You can use complex variables like {brand|manufacturer|provider}, the first non-empty value will be used. This works great, if for some products you use manufacturer attribute and for others brand or provider attributes. So for products with brand attribute, brand value will be used for meta tags; for products with manufacturer attribute, manufacturer value will be used and so on.
You can also use optional variables in square parenthesis '[]' both for product descriptions and meta tag templates. Optional variables will be processed only if products use attributes contained within variable. For example there's optional variable [by {manufacturer|brand}]. If a product has neither manufacturer nor brand attributes, the variable will not be used for descriptions/meta tags of this product. This way you can create very flexible templates with optional components, which will be used only appropriately.Separate templates for top level categories and subcategories.
The module lets you create separate templates for top level and child categories. So for top level categories, which are often without products, you can have a totally different template.Character limit for meta title and meta description.
Google does not 'like' very long meta tags, so it is very important to make sure they are right. It is recommended not to exceed 65 characters for meta title and 160 for meta description.Display short product descriptions on category pages.
You can show short product descriptions on category pages by adding just a small snippet of code to the category page template.Error Prevention.
If at some point attribute values of product are changed (e.g. color becomes black instead if green; brand becomes Nike instead of Adidas, etc), the extension will automatically use the new data for meta tags, this way meta information will always be correct.Flexibility.

Meta Tags Templates 12 12I use this extension on one of my websites, it is a very good extension and saves me lots of time. I'm doing a new website that uses the Ultimento Theme by Commative. Except that, despite our best consideration for these developers, we are very disappointed by "Meta Tags Templates": automatic generation of meta tags, short and full product for items only work on product page. That means the values generated by templates can NOT be used to generate feeds for Google shopping or other search engines or other purposes. Also, wanting to use the short_description in the detailed view of category page, it will only show the values of system attributes, ignoring any value of custom attributes... I hope Amasty decide to make an update soon (we have also proposed to fund it) because with these limitations the use of templates is very little useful! August 10, 2012This is truley worth every penny for this extension. The sheer amount of work and hours this has saved me has paid for itself just in one day.
