Sonassi FastSearchIndex
Simply install this extension to signicantly speed up the time to takes to re-index the Catalog FullText Search and Category/products association indexes.
Operation (FullText)
This extension will not replace the core index rebuild tool, so you can continue to use that if you like. However, if you wish to use the FastSearchIndex tool, simply log in to your Magento admin, then
System > Index Management > Sonassi Catalog Search Index (top right corner)
Operation (Category Products)
This part of the extension only needs to be run once to fix the slow category/products association. Simply log in to your Magento admin, then
System > Index Management > Sonassi Category Products (top right corner)

Sonassi FastSearchIndex 13 13Great extension worked perfectly with 1.4.1.0. March 28, 2012I am not sure what happened.. but basically my search index was taking forever so I installed this extension. Next thing you know when ever you would enter a search it would search also in the body of my description. My description attribute is not configured to be searchable. Just a heads up to anyone using this extension. I removed the extension and now my search index can reindex just fine without the extension being installed, and search results work perfectly. September 23, 2011This is one of the best extensions on connect. That said, I really wish this worked for 1.5 amp; 1.6 versions. I have yet to try, but right now I have products that are not showing up in search and I think this would fix it. August 29, 2011This has just fixed a 1.4.2.0 site I have been having problems with in two clicks, great extension! August 13, 2011What is does is very, very basic. It doesn't take into account a) searchable attributes b) visibility or c) status. I wouldn't rely on this in a serious webshop. That is, I get only the top admin menu and footer, but I can't see the indexers anymore. Can't wait for this to receive a 1.5.0.1 compatible upgrade!
