Custom address fields requirements
This extension allows you to change more show options (don't show, optional, required) for the customer address fields (after installation you can change the options for the "Company", "State/Province", "Telephone" and "Fax" fields).
Additionally you can set the "Ship to this" address" option in the checkout progress as preselected and alter the order of the "City" and "Postal code" fields.
After installation the new customer address options can be found under System->Configuration->Customers->Customer Configuration->Name and Address Options
The checkout address preselect option can be found under System->Configuration->Sales->Checkout->Checkout Options- Release Notes

May 15, 2013Working in 1.7.0.2 with little addition I can confirm that this extension works but to remove the javascript validation check you have to edit the database, as mentioned from mortuarie: Quote: We need modify the database. - in table "eav_attribute", search "telephone" in "attribute_code" column. - the "entity_type_id" value is "2" - in column "is_required", replace "1" by "0" For me attribute_id was 31! May 12, 2013Works with ver. 1.7.0.2 W/ DB Adjust Just installed, adjusted the settings and still said telephone required. Modified the database as flyhamst suggested and it seems to work fine now, no other known issues to date.
