Let's say, you are setting new website, which doesn't require product compare feature. Extension lets you get rid of every trace of product compare with one click.Disable product compare for specific products
It doesn't make sense to compare products without attributes. Video games are a good example. Most likely, your customer wouldn't want to compare shooter with real time strategy or 2 sport simulators. In this case our extension can also help you. It adds "Remove compare link" attribute to every product, so that you yourself could decide whether to let customer to compare with product, or not.Add to compare with AJAX

Question 1: our product types have unique attributes. For ex.: comforters have 'weight, fill material', etc.; blankets have 'material, electric Y/N', etc. Can we utilize unique attributes for the various product types?
Question 1) We use one attribute sequence for navigation. For ex: Comforters begin with warmth, then special feature 1, then weight, then fill material, thread-count, etc. Butt we need a different attribute sequence for Product Comparisons. For example, beginning with fill material, then thread-count, then special feature 1, then warmth and weight, etc.
Can we use a different sequence of attributes to generate the comparison table?? Can we eliminate, by product category, attributes that are insignificant (ie. care instructions for comforters are the same)??
Question 2) involves comparing items that are different product types and therefore have different unique attributes. For example, wool blankets have 'material' (ie wool, cotton, etc.), heated y/n but down blankets have 'fill material, thread-count', etc.
How will you generate the comparison table when the product types have different attributes? (Note this is a rarer situation, an alphabetical sequence is okay, but we need the ability to use two sets if attributes.)

For example, switching off some attributes for specific attribute. Since product can be in different categories, we can't tell, on what category should we base our decision, what attributes to compare. The same goes for different sequence of attributes for comparison table. Our extenstion doesn't implement its own comparation process - it just allows to tweak standard one.
About your second question:
As I said above, our comparison process isn't really different from Magento. If you compare products belonging to different attribute sets, comparison table consists of all comparable atributes of all products in comparation - in your case "material", "heated", "fill material", "thread count". But for wool blankets "fill material" and "thread count" values will be N/A. Also: we won't switch off some attributes. We just need to show some of them lower in the comparison table. This is an important preference but not an absolute requirement.
So further to question #1, please advise:
1a) For products in the same category (identical attributes): what sequence of attributes will generate the table, and can we set a special sequence per category? Or is the table sequenced alphabetically?
1b) For products in different categories (different attributes, keeping in mind your answer to question #2): can you combine attributes from two categories? For example: the first set of attributes for the first category would display above the second set of attributes for the second category. We greatly prefer a mix of the two categories' attributes -- an alphabetical mix is fine -- and if there were common attributes between both categories (for example, both wool blankets and down blankets have "product dimensions"): those values would display side-by-side. We need to avoid "product dimensions" at the top (for the first category) and "product dimensions" again at the lower part (second category) of the table.

Sorting attributes alphabetically is possible in theory, but we don't plan implementing this in our extension.

Not to repeat myself but we use Categories (for ex.: Sheets; Comforters; Pillows & Pads; etc.) Now each Category has different attributes (ex.: Sheets has 'Thread-count'; Comforters have 'Fill material'; etc.)
So Question (#3?): can you sort attributes in the order they are shown on the attribute set edit page and BY CATEGORY?
Don't be concerned about sorting attributes for 2 Categories. Let's keep this simple and use just one Category. Let me know soonest, thanks!bytdanaher-2 weeks, 4 days agoAnswers

1) Products are from the same category and the same attribute set
Magento takes all atributes from this attribute set and shows them in either that "mystical" order, or in the order they are shown in attribute set edit page (if you switch such way of sorting on in extension settings)
2) Products are from the same category, but different attribute sets
It is hard to predict what will happen since it usually doesn't make sense to compare pillow, sheet, tv and fridge. The result will depend on what sort order is set for every attribute group in both attribute sets. So you may want to play with that setting to understand how that table will look in result.
3) Products are from different categories and attribute sets
the same as in 2nd situation
So as you can see categories don't influence comparison table in any way, only attribute sets do. And this is a right way, since one product can belong to only one attribute set and to many categories. So if we would base our comparison on category, we could bump into conflict of settings for each separate category. Also, attributes are linked to attribute sets, not categories.
