SFC_FeaturedCategories
StoreFront Consulting has developed the Featured Categories extension to give merchants the ability to feature selected categories and sub-categories. The extension allows a “Featured Categories” block to be placed on the home page or in any CMS page or static block in the website. The “Featured Categories” block displays selected categories, along with thumbnail versions of their respective category images and selected sub-categories for each.

SFC_FeaturedCategories 8 8Works well on 1.6! Works well on 1.6 but you have to use Version: 1.0.3! The documentation sucks, its for the old version. The new one is in google search for 'featured category magento'. Its a pdf. You also can install with URL key instead of using FTP to upload. Just add the prefix found here: http://ommune.com/connect-error-couldnt-resolve-host-magento-community/ To choose featured category/sub-category look in General tab for that category. After I figured all this out it worked great. Hope I saved somebody else from all the extra time I spent. March 28, 2013You can use with category thumbnail image too It works on my CE 1.7.0.2. And if you'd like to show the category thumbnail image instead of category image, you just change the 35. row in app/design/frontend/default/default/template/display.phtml: <img src="<?php echo Mage::getBaseUrl('media').'catalog/category/'.$FeaturedGroup['Category']->getThumbnail(); ?>" Thank you sfcadmin! March 28, 2013Does what it says, very good Had some issues with 1 category being aligned right for some reason but changed this in the CSS. There is plenty of scope for someone with good CSS skills. March 1, 2013Great Extension Great extension. Installed on 1.7.0.2 and it worked nicely. My gripe with it is in the frontend though... the CSS needs to be tweaked. Heights should be defined on the individual boxes, because if you have categories of differing heights the DIVs do not align properly (initially) upon loading. Other than that, great stuff! I have installed this extension and it works perfectly but i am facing some issues for my store:
My magento store is having Multi site and multi store and this extension works perfectly with multi site concept but is not working with multi store.
So, does this extension provides support for multi store ???
