Overview

Layered Navigation - AJAX custom filters

The Magento Layered Navigation extension is an essential tool for those who want to enhance product search filtering on the website. Layered Navigation optimizes store navigation and allows customers to find the desired items quickly and easily.

Navigation filters appear automatically in the upper left column on Catalog and/or Search results pages and are changed according to specified product attributes or search parameters. Thus we have one set of filters for handbags catalog and the other for men’s belts. Magento AJAX navigation allows filtering products without page reloading.

A store administrator has the full control over the filters settings and their look. For example, you can add thumbnails for a category tree or fold long list of options. Numeric values can be specified in a slider or in a ‘From –To’ field.

AJAX-Based Features

Quick AJAX filtering
The AJAX-based navigation and sorting allows your customers to see the selected products faster than in the standard Magento navigation without multiple page reloading, thus optimizing customer experience. On clicking the ‘Back’ button, all the previously selected filter options stay saved, and visitors can see the products that match those parameters.

AJAX toolbar
The extension supports AJAX for all the elements of the catalog toolbar: paging, sorting, show per page, view change (grid/list). The catalog content changes seamlessly without page reload.

Layered Navigation UI Management

Edit Filter

Sort attributes’ position
Store owners can define position of each filter in Shop By column. With Layered Navigation, you can put the most important attributes on top and define overall filters sequence.

Thumbnails for each filter option
You can upload attractive thumbnails for the corresponding filter options and make layered navigation process more intuitive and easy.

Filter Options Thumbnails

Set up column layout
You can configure column layout of each filter directly in the backend.

Column Layout

Change option labels and filter titles
The module gives you full control over filters and options titles. Moreover, each filter has a description field. Just insert relevant content in this field to show your customers tips appearing when they hover the mouse over a filter.

Add help notices
Provide clients with attribute hints which can appear as an icon or a text in the upper-right corner near the attribute filter.

Help Notices

Multiple user interface elements for filter options
There are several options to display filters – Check box, Radio box, Range Slider for price and other numeric values, and ‘From – To’ number field.

Multiple Elements for Filter Options

Functional Enhancement Features

Price sliders and numeric filters
The implemented Range Slider lets your customers specify their own custom ranges for price, weight, size, height and other numerical attributes. Moreover, the extension allows clients to filter products by attributes with decimal or integer values.

Control filter displaying
The Magento Layered Navigation extension allows you to control specific filters appearing. You can easily hide attributes for some product categories and configure whether to show them on Catalog or Search results pages.

Hide for Category

HTML5-based URL change
Your customers can filter products specifying the desired attributes set and bookmark the generated page URL for further usage. This link will show the list of found products saving their time on selecting the parameters once again.

HTML5-based URL Change

Ability to select multiple values for the same attribute
Customers can choose any combination of attributes they see on their screens for filtering, including multiple values for one attribute. Thus, they only need to imagine the result they want and do not need to think how to achieve it.

SEO parameters for filters
The module allows store administrator to specify individual SEO word for each filter. So your customers will see clear and nice-looking URL on all pages on which the filter value is selected.

The module can be integrated with the following extensions by aheadWorks:

  • AJAX Cart Pro
Makes Magento cart UI absolutely customer friendly by means of AJAX. Fully customizable from admin panel.

Not recommended if you have custom product collection It's working fine on the default categoryy page however you need to do a lot of customisation if you other product listing that inherits Magento Layered nav. November 13, 2014
Excellent Really all excellent. The extension does what it promises. Respecting the specifications you can set all kinds of filters. It is also excellent and very fast the ticketing system. Everything perfect. September 24, 2014
Excellent extension It is an excellent extension that helps a lot to the search stuff on Magento and presents the filter Navigation widget in several fancy ways. Besides, it is configurable enough to many business requirements. The support is excellent and pretty accurate, and the time of response to any request is definitely fast. The only thing I'd like to have still, is the possibility to know the current filter selection in a natural and direct way, it can be developed but it would be an excellent plus! September 3, 2014
Seo Url Although this extension is excellent but one drawback is filter url are not seo friendly. If you will add this functionality in extesnion, It would be nice. July 15, 2014
Great value for money This extension delivers a great customer experience when you rely on product filtering with attributes. You can configure it in many ways (colors / icons / checkboxes / radiobuttons / ...) and I think it's great value for money when you plan on using it intensely. Their developer support team is friendly, keeps you up to date and fast. I had an issue with some attributes, made a support ticket and was helped within 3 days with no extra charge. I would recommend this product because the installation was simple, the product works as described, the support is great and it gets the job done with no hassle. April 4, 2014

Answer:
Hello!

Our Layered Navigation extension supports "Checkbox Group" input type for Categories, allowing a customer to select multiple categories at once.
As for the Price attribute, the extension offers both mentioned representations. You can display the Price filter as "From-To" input or as a Slider.
If you have any further questions regarding the Layered Navigation extension, feel free to contact our Support team.
Thank you.

Shop by: Sleeve

Look1..3 and Sleeve 1...2 are categories. Can your extension help me to divide category attribute in two?

Answer:
Hello, Bharat.

Our Layered Navigation extension inherits the native Magento category structure, so all the categories / subcategories can only be listed under one section.
However, our extension allows representing Categories as a collapsible tree, so if you have a parent category for each of the sub-category groups, it may be a solution.

Thank you.
