I don't understand all the comments about this translation not working...
The only issue I had was that I had to manually delete the folder in app/locale/it_IT because somehow it was already there with an older translation (and it was not listed in the magento connect manager)
Beside this I only found one typo in the backend: "Messaggio regalo per tutto l\'ordine" and I haven't found the .csv with the error, but it's just a matter of time
This on Magento 184.108.40.206

It dropped files in wrong folder , files separately went into locale instead of locale/it_IT/ -files
I deleted but site still down , I also tried zip file ,copied files to locale but that did not work, also went to my server and deleted var/cache files and restarted server .

this language pack does NOT create the folders in app/locale. There is no app/locale/it_IT like there is for my Spanish, English and German Language Packs. Does NOT work. It uploaded fine in Magento Connect, but the files don't transfer. I recommend coming back in a couple weeks and trying again. For those of you who are impatient, try this. I didn't install it myself, so I can't recommend it.

In the package you still use Mage_Email_Templates.csv for email. It's a nightmare to edit it and adapt to the needs of a shop. It will be great that you provide a package with the same file/folder structure as the one in other language package. Take a look the french, german and so on.
I had same problem with Joomla Italian package, there were not in UTF8 ...
Thank you for the job but please do it well.

The email templates are still missing! Does anybody translated the email templates already? Where could I get them?
