Related Products Manager is a Magento extension that uses existing shopper data to automatically generate related items, up-sells, and cross-sells for your entire catalog.

Getting Started
Install Related Products Manager using the Magento Connect key above. After installing navigate to Configuration->Related Products Manager and click "Update Related Products" to begin. If you get a 404 error simply log out of the Magento Admin and then back in to fix it.

Avatar Image Url:: http://www.magentocommerce.com/images/avatars/uploads/avatar_267023Answer:It looks like your Magento installation may have had an earlier version of Related Products Manager installed at some point that was manually uninstalled.
The easiest way to fix this is to erase Magento's "memory" of this extension. You can do this by running the following SQL command against your database:
DELETE FROM core_resource WHERE code='recommender_setup';
Then clear your cache using the red Flush Magento Cache and Flush Cache Storage buttons on the upper right of the Cache Management page.
We had another user recently run in to the same issue so please post back to let us know if you did indeed have an earlier version installed that you manually uninstalled. That means that there was only enough click and order data for the 1234 products to create "smart" recommendations. The remaining products don't have enough data yet so Related Products Manager will show random related items until enough data has been collected.
Unfortunately there's no great way in the admin to see which products have smart recommendations and which don't without clicking on each product. We've wrestled with trying to find a way to make it clearer without adding whole new screens or tabs but never had much success. Above the line:
Mage::getSingleton('catalog/product_visibility')->addVisibleInCatalogFilterToCollection($linkedItemCollection);
Try adding:
Mage::getSingleton('catalog/product_status')->addSaleableFilterToCollection($linkedItemCollection);
This should filter out all products that are not "saleable".
