July 7, 2012no fading on multistore installation...hmmm..1.6.1 May 31, 2012Great ext!!! I do not htink it depends on magento version and must work on any installation without any conflict with other plugins. Lack of tutorial makes it little bit difficult to guess how to manage it. But actually there is nothing difficult. Just create 2, 3 or 4 static blocks with whatever content you wish the slider to work, then open any CMS page to edit in the backend and click Add Widget. Then choose 'Carousel' and assign those static blocks to it. That's all! This will 'slide' the blocks with fading effect. This code will be inserted into CMS content: {{widget type="blockcarousel/widget_carousel" template="blockcarousel/widget/carousel.phtml" blocks="static_block1,static_block2,static_block3" wrapper_style="height:200px"}} May 24, 2012From the the beautiful sliders out there, is this the only one our community can have for free? When navigating to System>Configuration, now I see a checklist by "MageMods" with all their products and "Block Carousel" is marked installed. Kind of invasive they took over the first page which opens when going to config. How to change that? I don't want to see a commercial for your other products every time I go to my config section. May 4, 2012Thank you! excellent little mod May 3, 2012Since there's no tutorial, I thought I'd give a brief description. As far as I can tell, this carousel can only cycle through static blocks...hence the name. I just wanted an image slide show, so I could create a static block for each image, but there are probably better extensions out there for my purposes. What is nice about it is that since it does in fact use blocks, you can include text, images, and style them however you want since you create the static blocks. After you install, navigate to the CMS page you want your carousel on. Click the content tab on your CMS page and then click 'insert widget'. The insert widget window should pop up, and in the drop down you should see 'block carousel'. When 'widget options' pops up, just select the blocks you want to include in your carousel. Set your height in the 'wrapper style' text field. When you are done just click the 'insert widget' button and that's pretty much it. I haven't messed with pane, forward or backward style yet. This will create a basic click through slideshow with fade transitions. There are arrows on both sides to go from slide to slide. Hope this helps somebody, but yeah there should definitely be more pictures and a tutorial! April 26, 20121-10 of 10- Q&A
