Overview

In Stock Only

Update Log

10/20/09: A bug caused the layered navigation to disappear when the layered navigation indexes were refreshed. This issue is fixed as of 10/20/09.

The module should be used if you want your products to be immediately hidden from the frontend when it goes out of stock rather than just displaying "out of stock" but still being displayed. It works with layered navigation, wishlists, tags, recently viewed, cross-sells, up-sells, etc..

Installation and Configuration

Simply install like any other module and refresh your cache. Uninstall to disable. There are no configuration options.

Known Bugs

This is actually more of a limitation with Magento. If you have attributes that are used to create configurable products and are also used in layered navigation, products will still show up when layered navigation is in use for an attribute where configurable products have simple products that are in stock even though the product with the currently filtered attribute value is out of stock. This is actually a limitation of Magento whether or not this module is used, only now it is more obvious because the filtered product would be expected to be in stock since it was visible in layered navigation and out of stock products are hidden. Example: If a shirt is available in red and green colors and small, medium and large sizes but small/green is out of stock, the shirt will still appear in layered navigation when the green and small filters are used if any size is available in green and any color is available in small.

It works with layered navigation (except in a particular case, see "Known Bugs"), wishlists, tags, recently viewed, cross-sells, up-sells, etc..

I don’t think there is a good fix for this other than having an observer disable products entirely when they go out of stock, but this has some side-effects which might negatively affect some people.
