Rated 0 out of 5 by Blair Geddes This doesn't work with straight install, might need modification to work. On initial install, it removes left and right nav bars in frontend. Moving brand.xml file into theme folder might fix. Would be nice to have similar extension that just works straight away after install.

Rated 0 out of 5 by pad_arty I am using 184.108.40.206 Module installs no problem. But to make it work I had to copy files to my theme:
And after that I logged in to my magento database and added the column filename to the brand table.
After I made this changes I was able to access Manage Brand Names under Catalog menu.
Hope this helps.

We are instructed to drop the column 'filename' in the 'brand' table yet part of the code clearly still uses 'filename' - you at some point seem to have changed the path structure for images generating directories using the brand id and a,b,c etc.
By re-adding the 'filename' column in table, the image filename is being inserted as the correct filename of the image uploaded - however the extension can't read the image as the code generates a dynamic path for example: /media/brand/1/a/dynamic_filename.jpg yet in the admin panel, it is still trying to read the image at /media/brand/uploaded_filename.jpg
The extension is clearly half finished and doesn't work in the current form it is provided in. This would take hardly any time at all for you to fix to be fair so the extension should be removed from Magento Connect until the bugs have been resolved (you could rectify in less than 30mins - it's only the image paths that need fixing).
If you can assist via email/skype, then we can get your extension sorted for everybody that is installing it. Otherwise it will be reported as it is just breaking others Magento stores currently.
If it were me, I would keep 'filename' in the database table, get rid of the dynamically generated image paths and just set the image path to be /media/brand/filename.jpg (then none of the SQL has to be altered at all and the extension will just work as expected (unless we encounter further bugs).
