Gala ColorSwatches is a free magento extension that allow to display color swatches or color switchers on product details page by replacing drop-down custom options or configurable product's options.
Custom options or product attributes such as color, size, types can be displayed as thumbnail images. It works well with any type of products, simple products, configurable products, etc... Product options and thumbnails images are configured in the backend. The user interface and backend settings is designed with use friendly, standard magento UI and easy to use.
Gala Color Swatches Magento extension can be installed via Magento Connect within minutes, it does not require to hack code, or change magento core or change anything in your magento theme.
This Magento color swatches extension released for free and it's compatible with all magento version from 1.4.1.1, 1.4.2.0, 1.5.1.0 or latest 1.6.0.0. This magento extension developed by Galathemes.

Gala Color Swatches Free 49 49It didn't display in images at first reason being is the images on were directing to /media/swatches but when installing this it creates /media/color_swatches to direct to all extensions. So solution: Rename /media/color_swatches To /media/swatches November 28, 2012Works on 1.7.0.2 but needed add in head.phtml: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" /> October 20, 2012if you just want to use css text instead of images, you can disable this code and make it working in IE. In settings.phtml line 47: /*if (item) line 54 : console.debug(label, key, swatches);*/ line 57 //} (just before "elm.observe('click', function(event) {" ) October 18, 2012works fine with 1.7 and configurable procducts. i have lot of shoe sizes, instead of create 1 image by option, I prefere css : October 17, 2012Works great in v1.7.0.1! Just need to make sure to upload your images in /media/swatches instead of /colors_watches. In case you see a 404 Not Found error right after installing it. Try logging off and logging back on. This worked for me. Also, for those having an issue with IE9, try editing your head.phtml file and force the page to load in IE8 instead: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" /> October 11, 2012for those having issues with IE9 it works for me by changing the fireEvent function to use a try catch block instead of an if else.
