Thank you for this useful extension.
Just one problem, the product image is not posted, I read the instruction, it says image_link should be default attribute? but its just not showing in Google merchant.

I installed it on Magento 1.7.0 and I lost Google Checkout functionality completely. There is no google checkout button at all. Not to mention that none of the products was able to export to google. I have no idea what to do now... No support as well.

Works as advertised
You have to know what you're doing, unfortunately, but it works well. Setup:
1) Create your Google Merchant Account: http://www.google.com/merchants/default - Then copy your Account ID, email address and password into step 2. Verify and Claim your site, add shipping and tax rules in Google.
2) System/Configuration/Shopping/Google API - Fill in the blanks.
3) Catalog/Google Content/Manage Attributes - Map at least your Name, Description, and Price
4) Catalog/Google Content/Manage Items - Add your items.
If it fails, read the error messages at the top of your Magento store.

Poor documentation and difficult setup
Getting my Magento store products onto Google merchant , google shopping has been the single most over complicated experience in all of my working with Magento. This extension is significantly better than other options, but it is so poorly documented that it is infuriating.
Some of this problem is not the devleopers, but Google's problem, their merchant center is the slowest, most poorly supported Google Product I have ever used.
I had to make a number of changes to our Robots.txt file to allow Google to spider our site, and after that, it finally accepted one out of 40 products, that are nearly identical except for size variations.
The sync and review process are crazy slow.
Also it should be more clearly document in the extension, not so lost pdf the process for setting up mappings. We sell industrial products that do not have UPC or EAN codes, so creating strong identifies had to happen before we could use this.

Configserver blocks Google Merchant on port 443
I am using Google API extension to import our my products from Magento shopping cart to Google Merchant.
Everything was running okay when ConfigServer was in testing mode. However, I got the following error when I enabled ConfigServer Firewall.
Errors happened during synchronization with Google Shopping
Cannot update 1 items.
The item "XXXX" cannot be updated at Google Content. Unable to connect to Google Content. Please, check Account settings in configuration.Error: Unable to Connect to ssl: //www.google.com:443. Error #110: Connection timed out.
my domain is www.liverdoctor.com and my shopping cart at shop.liverdoctor.com. We are using VPS of Godaddy's company.
I have checked the port 443 and open_ssl extension on my server. They are enabled and running.
I added www.google.com to csf.dyndns file and
I added the following IP ranges to csf.allow
188.8.131.52/19 # Googlebot
184.108.40.206/19 # Googlebot
220.127.116.11/18 # Googlebot
18.104.22.168/17 # Googlebot
22.214.171.124/20 # Googlebot
126.96.36.199/16 # Googlebot
However, Google Merchant still can't access my folders and data. Now I have to disable ConfigServer to let Google Merchant access my website and it puts my server to danger's situation.
Could anyone help me please? I appreciate for your help. Thanks in advanced.

Automation of Google Shopping integration
On top of core Google Shopping extension for Magento, we've developed improved version which automates all management related routines.
With Improved Google Shopping for Magento extension, all product management is done automatically in background (cron job) nightly or weekly. All you need to do is to install and configure our extension, the rest will be done automatically.

extension is so close to being great
This extension is so close to working great. There is obviously no one working closely with this extension at magento because it is missing some key functionality.
The biggest being that google want the simple products but our store as mant do only show the configurable. If a simple product is sent to google with a url that is non-visible then it goes to a 404. All that needs to happen is that if there is a parent_url of the simple that should be sent to google and voila problem solved.
There also is not a complete google product type library with in the extension.
If Magento is truly behind this extension they should put more resources into it as I am sure for many stores Google Shopping accounts for a sizable chunk of change for us, and that is with out this extension performing at 100%. Especially since now adwords is functioning off of merchant center.

I did this and it works again.
Go into phpMyAdmin, and run this query (under the "SQL" tab)
update core_flag set state='0' where flag_code='googleshopping';
That should clear it up.

This worked for me, for a while. Nowadays the "updating" animation just spins for hours and hours and then throughs out an error "Google Shopping operation has expired."
