Wow this was free? I can't believe this extension was free. It works so amazingly well I am super happy I installed this . What an amazing piece. Thanks a million. June 13, 2014
Works flawlessly with 1.9.1 Just installed it in 1.9.1. Works great. Before I had Varnish in 1.7.1 however I wanted normal FPC. I was thinking about writing my own extension and when I was looking for more info how FPC works, I found this extension. Thanks, you saved me a lot of time :) Great job! PS I'm wondering why you can not select version 1.9.1 from the drop down box when you add a review... June 11, 2014

================================== work in magento CE1.7. Download page decreases from 6 to 2~3 seconds. Very good! (i test in http://tools.pingdom.com/) ps.: I insert sidebar_cart in table "dinamic pages" because is "lazy pages" the sidebar show no really itens in home page. Sorry for my english. Hi,

after a thorough and repeated testing of the extension I noticed the following:

1. If I configure the block 'product.info.simple.extra' as dynamic everything works fine (it's not being cached)
2. If I also add the block 'product.info.simple' as dynamic then the whole html related to the 'product.info.simple.extra' block disappears and is not seen in the frontend.
3. If only 'product.info.simple' is configured as dynamic it is not taken into consideration and is being cached all the time in the frontend.

Remark: All types of caches were being refreshed and consequently flushed via the admin panel after each of the above 3 scenarios.

I'm kindly asking for help since I'm not sure whether I'm doing something wrong or I'm just missing something ...

Answer:
Hello Stumps,
the problem is, that only blocks without children can be dynamic. The reason for that is, that it would slow down fpc if you can add dynamic blocks with children. Please note, every dynamic block slows fpc down.
I hope that helps you.

Hi,

the following has been observed lately after installing and enabling the extension:

1. Changing programmatically some of the attributes of a product and afterwards calling the product's save method doesn't change anything on the product's frontend page. The same code works perfectly well when lesti::fpc is not enabled.

2. Changing programmatically (via direct sql queries) some of the attributes of a product and afterwards calling Mage::dispatchEvent('catalog_product_save_after', array('product' => $product)) doesn't change anything on the product's frontend page. The same code works perfectly well when lesti::fpc is not enabled.

Please kindly provide help since the above results doesn't seem logical to me.

Answer:
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Problem was in Zend code where hardcoded are some file rights for the /var/cache files. These would not allow anybody else beside the user which the web server is running as to have write access to some of the cache files thus making lesti::fpc not work as expected.

Solution to the problem is running the script as the user which the web server is run as. The issue has nothing to do with lesti::fpc

Much of traffic originates through paid media. Because companies like Google attach tracking to URLs via query string, visitors from paid traffic are never served the cached content because this extension sees the query string params as a unique request.

Is there a way to ignore query string parameters on URLs and still serve up the cached content? For example, www.abc.com/catagory/ and www.abc.com/category/?gclid=124789234879124 are seen as two different pages even though they are the same.

Answer:
Hello Coer,
I guess it should work, but it doesn't make sense. 'PageCache powered by Varnish' and 'Lesti::Fpc' are both fullpagecaches. It's senseless to run two fullpagecaches.
If you have the option to run varnish, use it. Cause varnish has more power and Lesti::Fpc is mostly build for shared hosting. But I guess there are better extensions than 'PageCache powered by Varnish' for varnish.
And please note, varnish is an external cache. It's not that easy to configure it the right way. In many varnish-modules you can see that the session parmas like sort_direction or display_mode haven't effect on the page-content. And dynamic blocks will be replaced with ajax wriggling. These Ajax-Requests aren't included in the most benchmarkings.
I hope that helps you in your decision.

Answer:
So I've been using both, but I agree with Gordon and have been debating whether I should get rid of the PageCache Varnish extension. Varnish offers a blazing fast full page cached response but has no holes (with that extension). So for customers just browsing the site without adding anything to their cart you can't beat it. I've been using that as a primary and then falling back on Gordon's awesome extension for customers that have started adding items to their cart.

It all depends on your customer model. If most people just browse without adding to cart, you might want to keep that varnish extension. If most people add something to their cart, then that varnish extension doesn't really help you.

I've got Lesti FPC setup with Redis and it's pretty fast, but again, it will and should be slower than Varnish since it does do lazy blocks and dynamic blocks.

I plan to do more testing on this to really see what the difference is. My Redis cache is also at a gig right now, so I'm not sure how big that cache would need to be if I removed varnish.

i placed a call for:

Hello!

I'm trying to add a block from "ultimo theme" to Dynamic Blocks tabs and I have no success doing it.

{{block type="ultimo/product_list_featured" category_id="0" product_count="16" is_random="1" block_name="Produtos em Destaque" hide_button="1" template="catalog/product/list_featured_slider.phtml"}}

I tried to put there without success.

block_list_featured_slider,
list_featured_slider,
ultimo-list_featured_slider,

Answer:
Hello Mulamula,
I'm sorry, but normally it's impossible to make blocks in cms-pages dynamic. Cause all information about the block are in cms-page-model and I didn't load before sending response to customer (that's the sense of fullpagecaching). And in my eyes, it doesn't make much sense to put dynamic things into a cms-page.
There are two soultions for you:
1. disable caching of cms-pages, (There aren't the big problem of magento)
2. Add attribute name_in_layout=[your_blockname] int {{block }}, add [your_blockname] to Configurations => System => Lesti_Fpc and add block in frontend/.../layout/cms.xml to cms_page_index handle with <block ... name="your_blockname" /> anywhere (so that isn't show in normal modus, for example as a child of any other block).
I hopre that helps you.

Hello xavierbaez,
I guess this should work. I think there are monitorings for apc to see, if it's working. You can benchmark it with apachebenchmark or siege, but the cache-backend isn't the bottleneck of Lesti_Fpc. I guess there aren't so big differences. I used redis for testing the functionality of app/etc/fpc.xml and maybe the site was 50 ms faster in avarage.

I was wondering how LestiFPC is processing the switch to a mobile site. Will this be a problem considering the FPC is probably caching on url level. The url's on the mobile site will be exactly the same as the normal site.

Answer:
Hello absolutex,
lazy blocks, are like cached dynamic blocks. They will be cached in session. For example cart_sidebar. This block should only change if you add or remove a item from cart. Therefore are Refresh Actions. After hitting this actions, every lazy block will be refreshed. There is also a explanation on the offical homepage of Lesti_Fpc.

Dear SIr,

I have installed your module in my store, and it is working great, thanks.

Nevertheless there is an issue I have been unable to solve. I have configured my fpc.xml file for using memcached in an external server, and most of the files are saved there. But some pages are being saved in the var/cache folder.

I couldn't identify the conditions in which the page gets saved in memcached, and the ones in which they stay on disk.

Could you please shed a light on what could I be doing wrong?

Hello Eduardo,
I did only extend from core/cache. I guess magento handles memcached as fast and filecache as slow cache-backend. Maybe magento also needs filecache, cause memcached can't handle tags that good. (this is just a assumption) I hope that helps you.

Maybe someone can help me with this problem.

When fpc is enabled, and catalog_product_view is to be cached, if I go to site.com/category/ and add some filters to products, like color site.com/category/color=4 and then I go back to category root site.com/category/ page will display only html code that was loaded via ajax request when it was done to filter out color..

Is it possible to configure fpc to work with this module?

Thank You!

Hi

Until now FPC worked really great but I recently added some code to redirect to the child category if there is only one.

Code:
<?php $_categories=$this->getCurrentChildCategories(); ?>

<div class="category-categories-categories">
<?php $_collectionSize = $_categories->count() ;?>

<?php if ($_collectionSize == 1) {

$i=0; foreach ($_categories as $_category):

if($_category->getIsActive()):
$category_url = $_category->getURL() ?>

<?php endif; ?>
<?php endforeach; ?>
<?php header("location: ".$category_url); ?>
<?php } else { ?>
........

the problem is that the redirect is only working the first time (after clearing the cache).

This code is in a phtml file called by a static block.
Like that: {{block type="catalog/navigation" name="catalog.category" template="catalog/category/all-collections-list.phtml"}}

I tried to put catalog.category, and all_collections (thats the static block identifier) in the Dynamic Blocks section in configuration but the redirect is still not working.

Do you have any idea how I will get that to work?

Best regards Matthias

Hello Matthias,
thanks for your question. Please never put logic into templatefiles. That's not really thankful for other developers, if they took a look at your code. There are a lot of ways to implement your idea in magento. And I can't say if my would be 100% right, but I have an better idea for you.
Work with an controller-event for dispatch, check if the current category has only one child and redirect the controller to the child category.
I hope that solves your question. If not feel free to contact me again.

Answer:
Hello Igoris,
this is a feature:) Now Fpc ignores every param that isn't in configs under uri-params, this should increase the hits of the cache. You can read apost about it in my website. You just have to add your attribute-keys to uri-params in configs.

I've got a CMS page that contains a reference to a form. Since adding this module, the form no longer works. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Inside CMS page i just make a reference to a block. It's just a stand alone page.

{{block type="core/template" name="Drop Ship Application" form_action="/drop-ship-application" template="cforms/dropship/signup.phtml" }}

I've also got a url rewrite rule for this and that's why the form_action works.

Thanks again for your help.

BTW, awesome extension.

Answer:
Hello Craig,
Can you explain what you mean with form doesn't work! Doesn't send it post or doesn't work the post? Were should the post go to?
Can you send me the template file per mail that I can take a look at it. And please also the controller were the post should end up. What url-rewrite, a magento core/rewrite or a rewrite with .htaccess?

Hole punching

I read a lot about the importance of "hole punching" when choosing a full page cache solution for the Magento CE edition.

Does your extension cater for this?

Hi, I am doying everyday import and I wonder if I have to refresh the cache everytime after import, or the caching system recognize theese basic needs. Or I have another question, what might not work? Or what may not refresh?

(I only think this)
Because if this don't work out of box I would have to create some cache bot to crawl my page everynight and that would be buggy and hard to achieve. Can't imagine how would be solved discouts and price changes and many other things.

Thank you for your work! It is very nice and helpful for everyone.
Can you help me because I got a interesting error during the install from magento connect.

I will use your github repo but the answer can be interesting for others.

Currenly our pages use php to query current state. Does your extension turn the page int HTML in the cache so PHP is never called? If so, could I use javascript, which I assume would be cached, to make calls to php part?
