All used Image Compressing Libraries are 32 Bit Executables and will not work on 64 Bit Linux.
But who runs a 32 Bit Linux-Server to host Magento?

Usage of GT Speed
I tried to use it to optimise my website but it broke the whole layout. My Magento version is 1.8.
I do not recommend the usage of it.

Does not work
Don't use if running 1.8 or CloudFlare. Completely broke the layout of the site. The advanced image link also returned a 404 error.
This was with all options disabled. I only required the image optimisation tools so had not enabled any of the JS/CSS optimisations.
Site returned to normal on unistallation.

Simple yet powerful extension to speed up your store instantly !
I strongly recommend this extension if you want to reduce your page loading speed and improve your site performance. After minifying and combining the css and js, it reduces 3-4 seconds in our total page loading time. Considering the image optimization, the image compression Linux library packages (jpegoptim, gifsicle, optipng) are incompatible with the Linux version we use Linux version 2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64 (Red Hat 4.4.6-4). So make sure to update these libraries based on your Linux Version. (It seems these libraries bundled with this extension support only 32 bit). This is the same with Windows it seems. If you experience "gifsicle is not executable" make sure to check your folder and file permissions for the path (lib/gtspeed/elf32) as well as check the compatability of these image packages based on your linux version.
Regarding the awful (hateful) reviews by some of the people who tried this extension below, make sure your JS and CSS follows the proper standards, if not when minifed and combined, it will break most likely. BTW kindly have some courtesy before you blame someone who provide something free and opensource and you should have a basic sense to try this (or any) 3rd party free (or paid extension) directly into your production environment.
Thank you very much Gossamer for this simple and spot on extension !
