Yoast Landing Pages

One of the most powerful features of Magento is it flexibility. With the CMS functionality you are able to create very SEO friendly static pages in an easy way. There's one issue though: by default Magento lacks a good way of including a group of products on a page if they are not all products from one single category.

Now wouldn't it be great if you could also filter the products on attribute value? For instance to show all black cell phones on a static page? Well, now you can! With this new Magento landing page module you will be able to do this in a very easy way. Just download the module and copy it to the root of your Magento install. After this you will be able to show all black cell phones (this example is using the Magento sample data) by simply adding this block to your CMS page: {{block type="Yoast_Filter/Result" name="filter_result" template="catalog/product/list.phtml" attribute_name="color" value="24" category="8" }}

Now the module also supports layered navigation for both the landing pages and the CMS pages. By default thelayered navigation is enabled for the dynamic pages. To remove this you should edit the filter.xml. To enable it for the CMS pages see the example at Yoast.com Thanks to Sonassi for he suggested code.

For more details and how it works, see Yoast Magento landing pages.

Doesn't work right with magento 1.7 The /f pages display error Fatal error: Call to a member function getBackend() on a non-object in /.../app/code/core/Mage/Eav/Model/Entity/Abstract.php on line 816 Layered navigation doesn't filter anything. January 8, 2014
This module seems to have a problem when using flat catalog categories or flat catalog products. When using the block in a cms page all products are displayed, no mather which filter you're using. Also the /f/ pages doesn't work. Overall: the module offers great features but unfortunately doesn't work completely as it should work in magento 1.7. Are there plans to upgrade this module? Or does somebody else have a good working alternative? Free or paid? October 16, 2012
This works great with 1.7, install by uploading files directly or use this extension key connect20.magentocommerce.com/community/Yoast_Landing_Pages May 18, 2012
Works great with 1.4 after all! But conflicts with other modules like the brands extension of Aitoc. Anyone have an idea to make modifications to make it work with Aitoc's brand extension module? With the correct pointers i'll fix it and send it to yoast. Maybe he''l release it as an update in the future :-) July 19, 2010

Hi have someone managed to include layered navigation via XML update, I dont know wheather it is because of using 1.7.2, or bad configuration.
It shows this error: Fatal error: Call to a member function getSize() on a non-object in

/app/design/frontend/theme/default/template/catalog/product/list/toolbar.phtml on line 41

This is my XML update ->

<reference name="content">
<block type="Yoast_Filter/Result" name="filter_result" template="catalog/product/list.phtml">
<action method="setAttributeName"><attribute_name>Manufacturer</attribute_name></action>
<action method="setValue"><value>23</value></action>
</block>
<block type="catalog/product_list_toolbar" name="product_list_toolbar" template="catalog/product/list/toolbar.phtml">
<block type="page/html_pager" name="product_list_toolbar_pager" template="page/html/pager.phtml" />
</block>
<action method="setToolbarBlockName"><name>product_list_toolbar</name></action>
</reference>
<reference name="left">
<block type="Yoast_Filter/Layer_View" name="catalog.leftnav" before="-" template="catalog/layer/view.phtml"/>
</reference>

I also tried all possibilitiies of attribute and option naming.
