Update 27 March 2010: This extension has now been merged into my SMTP Pro extension, and I have added several enahanced features. Don't worry! It's still free, easy to use and I'll be fixing bugs and continuing to improve the Google Apps and Gmail capabilities in the combined extension from now on. It'll just make it easier for me to maintain one combined extension than two separate ones. So jump over here and get the latest version. This extension allows you to quickly and easily configure Magento to send outbound emails using a Google Apps email account or even your Gmail account. It's been designed to remove the complexity involved in setting up SMTP connections, you won't be guessing between SSL, TLS and SMTP authentication modes :) Version 0.5 Added multi-store capability for self test, removed Mage_core dependency and tested working up to 1.3.2.3. Read more about the changes in v0.5. Version 0.4 Added support for newsletters. Version 0.3.2.1 bug fix release. Version 0.3.2 now includes support for all Magento versions and the password field is now masked. Please let me know if there are any improvements or bugs you'd like addressed. Version 0.3.1 includes two bug fixes (Thanks i960). Reply-to will be set correctly when using the store contact form, and the store address configuration switch has been changed to match the configuration file. The self test still does not work on 1.3.2.x. Expect a fix for this in the next release, it has no material effect on the rest of the functionality. Version 0.3 now includes full logging and a self-diagnostic test you can run easily from the admin interface. Version 0.2.1 now includes support for sending emails from the Google Apps or Gmail account and adding a reply-to header on the outbound email that uses the Magento store email addresses.
