Data feed imports? http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/430/group/164/

Using Magento version 1.0 did anyone figure out how to connect to a data feed?  I’m very new to magento, and XML but understand the basics.  I have a few vendors for which I’d like to set up feeds, but I don’t have a clue on where to begin.

Distributor Interface - Purchase Orders, Emails & Exporting http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/411/group/164/

I’m surprised that I cannot find mention of this here in the drop-shippers group.  We would like Magento to do the following:

1. Email our distributor (at the click of a button) when a new order comes in.  Basically the system pulls from “purchase price” and “distributor” fields from the database to create a Purchase Order.

2.  Purchase Order Manager??  The same way that we can view/edit/update sales orders we need to be able to have this functionality with Purchase Orders.  It could be/should be linked to the sales receipt since a canceled customer order is also a canceled Purchase Order.

3. Ability to export Purchase Orders in the same way that you can export Invoices and sales receipts.

4. Email updates/requests to distributors.  The same way that Magento allows you to communicate with your customers, we would like to communicate with Distributors so that we can keep track of this communication.

Automatically emailing supplier when a new order comes in. http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/408/group/164/

I am currently using Zen Cart and when a new order is placed you simply click a button and an email is sent to the supplier notifying them of the new order along with an attached invoice. I haven’t been able to find anything like this in Magento. Am I missing something or is this just not supported?

I gave mine up - who's next? http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/385/group/164/

Haven’t been very active here lately. Lots of work to do adding thousands and thousands of products.

I had originally hoped that this group would spur others to share some of their drop ship suppliers so we could all benefit. That, unfortunately, hasn’t happened.

I gladly gave my best suppliers up for the benefit of all. Where are yours?

I’ve made a lot of money from the ones I’ve listed here. Simple proof that they work.

Rather than keep them a big secret, let’s all share what we have and in the end all have a larger pool of products to choose from.

Just list them here in the comments and I’ll go to work testing, reviewing and adding them to the wiki.

Thanks!

Drop Shipping and Magento http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/257/group/164/

I totally love magentos store front, everything about it, but I am surprised that you cannot pass to the cart, the origin zip code of your products. You can only config one origin zip code.

This does not allow for very accurate shipping charges to be calculated vs real time. I ship from Washington, Calif, Ohio, Iowa. So somebody gets hit on shipping, mostly the customer may find your shipping charges too high and move on.  Do any of you use Magento, and if so how do you deal with this?  I have other sites using Cart Manager, which is only a cart- a very good one IMO, but it connects to the ups calcuator and feeds it the origin zip code of each proudct added, and my real life experiece is it comes back with almost dead spot on charges, ie what I have to pay for shipping to my supplier is almost exactly the same as Cart Manager calculates.  I have tried real testing with Magento, UPS plug in and its considerably off from the real sales I have made on other sites. Same product weights, same origin zip, same destination zip.

Does anybody else find this a problem? Seems like all the ecomm things I have looked into allow for multiple origin shipping, tie directly to ups or fed ex etc.  But they sure are not as cool and complete in alll the other areas as Magento!

Any thoughts, suggestions?  I tried suggesting this to the magento team but got nowhere with it.

[REVIEW] WMS Wholesale http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/213/group/164/

WMS Wholesale - http://www.wmsclothing.com/

The carry a large selection of clothing, lingerie, shoes and accessories.

They are definitely the importer. No middle man involved.

Data feed leaves a LOT to be desired. It is updated infrequently at best (they claim at least once a week but the last time it was updated was November 19th - I know it’s the holiday season but it is for ALL of us. They shouldn’t have an excuse). They also don’t have actual stock nunbers in their data feed - if it’s included in the feed it’s in stock, if it’s not then it’s not in stock.

Even with the shortcomings of the feed I still recommend this supplier though.

I haven’t had an opportunity to order from them yet but I’ll update when I do.

[REVIEW] Pacific Cellular Supply http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/blog/action/viewpost/203/group/164/

Here’s yet another one of my 5 star suppliers.

Pacific Cellular Supply - http://www.2buypcs.com/

They carry a TON (over 4000) cellular accessories for virtually every cell phone ever made. They are constantly adding new products as well.

They have an amazing feed as well as some advanced XML features I haven’t used yet (hopefully Magento will change that).

They appear to be the actual importer from what I can tell.

I haven’t had an opportunity to order anything from them yet but I’m confident that it will go smoothly when the time comes.

All in all highly recommended.
