While the European version of QuickBooks is an interesting dynamic, this module will most likely use the QBWC. At this time, there are no plans to make it interface via any other method. Our focus, at least initially, is to make the module compatible for the US version.

I’m sure there’s bound to be a way to get the UK version to connect via the web connector. You’d probably just have to do a lot of digging to find the answer. Other import/export methods exist as well, I’m sure. Maybe you can start a new UK sync group if this indeed turns out completely incompatible. Just a thought.

Looking at http://www.intuit.com/international/ I see the only European versions are UK and Germany, I suppose that both are the same(localized, based on Canada version) and VAT and currency (Euro or Pound) can be changed.
However since QB doesn’t offer (no intention) a European version for Mac OSX, and migrating/mixing multi platforms (linux, windows, mac) isn’t possible with QB I would suggest looking at (maybe migrating to) GNUcash which does offer these options, and is opensource and therefore free and cutting-edge.
I already started a group for GNUcash; http://www.magentocommerce.com/group/view/223/gnucash-sync
