How I can check compatibility with magento?
I’m often using http://www.tophost.it (one of the best cheap hosting in italy partner of wordpress Italia, but not offer SSL service) and http://www.siteground.com (usa and very famous for opensource with option of SSL)

which of these options offer an inexpensive plan that covers magento’s requirements?  I have 1and1 and you need to order a dedicated server for it to work.. and I’m just creating a new store where this would be overkill at the beginning.

On Nov 1st Media Temple posted Magento Install Guides for their (gs) and (dv) server packages.

See: http://tinyurl.com/2kyr8f

We have been using MT for a number of our clients and have been very happy with the service and support.

I’m looking for a host who offers shared servers compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard ( PCI DSS ), which is a very important requirement for my interests.  I currently host on http://www.Site5.com and, upon my first ScanAlert (MacAffee HackerSafe) vulnerability scan, that I will be charged $19.95/mo by my merchant (payment gateway reseller) unless I become PCI DSS compliant.

• Site5.com - Not compliant
• MediaTemple (mt) - Not compliant
• HostGator - YES! Compliant (via phone confirmation only)

After talking with a bluehost support person it seems it is compatible and they offer an autoinstall.

They are half the price of SimpleHelix too…
