OpenID
About this Group
OpenID is a shared identity service, which allows Internet users to log on to many different web sites using a single digital identity, eliminating the need for a different user name and password for each site. OpenID is a decentralized, free and open standard that lets users control the amount of personal information they provide.
By having a comfiguration option in Magento, shop administrators could have the possibility to accept customers with only an OpenID.
Benefit for end users (shop customers) is that they can buy a product without registering for a specific online shop.
For a shop owner this means that a shop check process can be shortend. This can lead to more sale of products.
Shop developers could use OpenID for SSO (single Sign On) purposes.
The Magento OpenID group could show the Magento Development Community the need of such a functionality. Furthermore it can be discussed, if such a functionality should be an (core - OS - Commercial) extension or a core functionality.
