Magento

Open Source eCommerce Evolved

Welcome, we are finally ready to start the discussion and development!

Hellow Everyone!

Sorry that I wasn’t able to start the discussion in our group for eBay Integration with Magento.

I saw that you where all comming up with ideas about what you would like to have in the Integration module. As eBay is the largest online shopping site I find it very important to have a module that can manage the whole process, from making a eBay auction, to posting it on their website, managing live auctions, payment and order management etc etc.

If everyone can give their thoughts about the module I will make one list in which we will put all ideas so we start looking at how the module needs to be.

My company is not a PHP development company so anyone who knows a decent developper please let me know.

When version 1.0 is released we will make up the complete test website in which we can implement the integration module for eBay.

So let’s all get in touch and start our laptops for the great job ahead!

    Hi,

    We currently use eBay as one of our sales channels and would be very interested in a module, but potentially something that is also expandable. ie Amazon, Tradingpost.com.au, Shop.com, Buy.com

    It would basically use the Ebay API and be similar in features/functionality to the AMX mod for X-cart:
    http://www.safetynetweb.com/Auction-Manager-for-XCART-pr-5.html

    or the Product Cart eBay Module:
    http://www.earlyimpact.com/productcart/eBay/

    It would include:
    * Manage your auctions
    * Create new auctions
    * Schedule products for auction
    * Relist products for auction
    * Bulk list multiple auctions at one time
    * Full WYSIWYG editor for your eBay auction descriptions
    * Supports primary/secondary eBay categories as well as eBay Store categories
    * View reports (sold items, unsold items, current listings etc.)
    * Works with all eBay International sites especially AU and UK
    * eBAY compatible certification

    Hope that can get someone with more expertise stated.

    Regards,

    Chris

    I would like to add to the list:

    - launch scheduling (listed as what time and day you want the auction to end rather than when you want it to begin)
    - Macro functionality within template
    - template integrated postcode calculator
    - Multiple currencies for international sites i.e. AU$99 and US$99 for the same product
    - Free relist capability if item does not sell first time around
    - 25 image limit per product

    I can also supply the inventory export file from Marketworks to show all fields they use with eBays API, I am sure this would help.

    Cheers!

    I wonder if we are thinking about this the right way.

    The more i look into this its becoming clear that Ebay integration with MAgento may not be the correct approach.

    Rather it would probably be more robust and valuable long term to have magento integrate with a good (opensource) ERP* package - and have that package control both Magento and Ebay.

    *Enterprise Resource Planning
    A business wide system that can centralise accounting, inventory management, purchasing, sales etc

    Most small businesses dont consider ERP as it sounds a little grand, but i think this approach would ultimately be better in the long run.

    Toughts?

    No development required here. It’s already in the works....

    From David at Auction Lister Pro:

    “Yes we have.  We love Magento and are developing a version of ALP for it.

    So it will be coming soon.”

    as far as i can tell this guy has no plans for magento. I was watching him back when i used oscommerce and i doubt he ever comes out with a solid product.

    He already has a “solid product”. Works fine with Zen for me. No idea what you’re talking about.

    I talked to him directly so I can assure you he does have “plans” for Magento.

    Where exactly are you getting your information from?

  8. 8vgration posted Sat, August 2, 2008

    I got my info by looking at his forum. No posts from him in ages. And I used his product. It has it’s issues.

    Ok....what issues? Like I said.....works flawlessly for me. You’re not proving anything here.

    Do like I did....stop assuming and talk to him directly. Then you won’t have to resort to assuming....

    I wasn’t trying to prove anything. It’s a discussion. One thing on his system was you had to download your completed auctions manually. Creates a lot of overhead. I don’t mean to insult just saying.

    I am working on my own API intergration. It is going well. I should have something soon as i figure out how to intergrate it into magento pages.

  12. 12vgration posted Fri, August 15, 2008

    I now have a checkout integration available. I have submitted it to the commercial extensions area and its pending approval. I have it for sale on my site vgration.com under Magento Extensions. It will allow your eBay customers to go to a form on your site, fill in auction number, their eBay ID, and their register zip. I will then perform security checks and add the auction to your products database then add it to cart. Once i have the development funds and finish a couple of projects i will start on the back end that will allow posting of products from magento to eBay.

    The manual downloading is an eBay requirement that I couldn’t bypass at the time to get the software certified.  You are more than welcome to create a cron job that polls eBay for your completed transactions.  I started working on this with someone last year and never heard back from them.  So I guess they were happy with the results.

    And yes I am working on a Magento module.  I am not that familiar with Zend Framework so there has been some delay in the process as I also still have other things going on at the moment.

    BTW I’m David from ALP.  I didn’t mention that before.  grin
