Magento Translation updates (ver. 0.7.14800)
In the last release we put our efforts to enhance the translation subsystem based on your feedback and our QA team test results.
We rewrote existing translation functions and added a few new ones (in the admin and frontend controllers), created data helpers for all the modules, put the module attributes in xml files, and fixed the translation calls throughout the system.
We also have solved the problems of duplicate keys - in case you have the original key translated differently in different modules you will never know which translation variant will be used, because it depends on the order Magento modules are loaded in, that should be the same on your Magento installation but can be changed when upgrading or installing new modules. Starting this release we have always a clear policy of what module should translate a phrase.
Also developers will be able to specify what translation they want to use (re-use) in their own modules, or design packages and themes.
For translators it means that a lot of phrases were moved between different translations files. If you don’t want to take care of it yourself - please send us your translation and we will convert it to a new format for you.
Thank you for your feedback.
