Steps to replicate:
1) Set "Special Price" for product and "Special Price From Date". Save product.
2) Choose non default store view
3) Set "Special Price From Date" for this store view (of course it will be applied to website). Save product.
4) Choose "Use Default Value" for "Special Price From Date" for this store view. Save product.
Result: It is impossible to switch to default "Special Price From Date".

This issue also present in 1.4.0.0-rc1
