Running Magento version 1.2.0.2 on an iMac 2.8GHz running 10.5.6 using Firefox brower 3.0.5 installed on Unix server hosted by Hostmonster.

The issue is that I cannot get the Google Base attribute mapping function to work with anything other than an unaltered "Default" attribute set.

My Google API info has been entered in system => configuration => Google API => Google Base

I created a new attribute set, i.e. "custom", based on Default. I've created simple and configured products. When I go to Catalog => Google Base => Manage Attributes => Add Attribute Mapping, I can choose my new attribute set and then choose Item Type "products". The "add new attribute" button appears but clicking on it produces nothing. No effect at all.

If I choose attribute set "default" and then Item Type "products", the "add new attribute" button appears. When I click on it everything works as it should and I can successfully map the attribute set with Google Base attributes.

But, if I go back and alter the "default" attribute set to include the attributes I need for my inventory, then go back into Google Base attribute mapping, choose "default" and "products", I get the same result as I did with my "custom" attribute set. An "add new attribute" button that produces no result.

If I then go back to the attribute sets and removed the custom attributes, I can once again map to Google Base.

The attributes I'm adding are both simple attributes such as "characteristics" that merely provide additional product details and attributes that I then use to create configurable products such as a custom set of European clothing sizes. The attributes work exactly as they should -- both in simple and configurable products -- and are quite necessary. But they won't be used to map to Google Base. But right now they are keeping me from being able to map to Google Base.

To recap:
unaltered Default set works
altered Default set does not work
altered Default set stripped back to original attributes works again
custom set based on Default does not work

This might be the cause that I always get the error "Expected response code 200, got 404" when trying to load products to Google Base and it never loads my products to Google Base since I had changed the default setting in the attribute set for Google Base. We cannot reproduce your issue. On different browsers as well.
New custom attribute set with custom attributes, default attribute set with custom attributes are working well. Please, can you try your investingations on PC under Windows?

To others about "Expected response code 200, got 400"
Google has changed a little their API (ID attribute is required now).
