View Issue #9952 / Can't disable some products

Posted: 2009-01-06 22:41:19
Category: Product
Version: 1.2.0.1
Priority: normal
Status: closed
Reported By: bcipher

I see that a few people have reported this in the forum recently and it also happened to me so I thought I would officially report the issue.

Quite simply, I was unable to disable some products. The setting could be changed to "disabled" however the product would still show up. The only way to get rid of it was to delete the product entirely. It appears that the only products I could not disable were products that were included in the old 1.1.2 sample data that was installed with Magento 1.1.8.

I have since upgraded to Magento 1.2.0.1 however of course the 1.1.2 sample data was still there and I wanted to disable all the sample products. I tried disabling in a batch as well as one product at a time. I was able to successfully disable products that I created myself.

I find it an interesting coincidence that a user that reported the same type of problem in the forum had trouble disabling products he added and transferred over from an old site using a spreadsheet file. This may suggest that the new version of Magento is having some issues handling product data properly from old versions and data added by importing. Just a thought.
