Hello - i found that in order to allow a user to group update product attributes via the manage products grid (as in selecting a bunch of products and then selecting "update attributes") ... that in the user permissions you need to allow ATTRIBUTES > MANAGE ATTRIBUTES ... but this also gives them access to the CATALOG > ATTRIBUTES > MANAGE ATTRIBUTES page, which allows someone to royally screw up the site, and therefore need to restrict access to this separately. I suppose this is a hybrid "issue / feature request" that i strongly feel should be addressed.
