Using Firefox with Flash Player 10 installed, attempting to upload images in the Administration Panel to a product will cause an "Error 2176" and prevent images from uploading. Flash Player 9 will not cause this problem.

This is NOT a bug with Flash 10 and is rather a "feature" to prevent a security exploit, meaning Magento needs to work around this problem.

It is quite evident that this is a Magento issue and NOT a flash player issue as stated in other knowledge base entries. From what I am reading on the Adobe.com, Flash player has taken advantage of some new security features in Windows Vista for which forces application developers to make some changes in their code. It appears the the developers at Magento are lacking knowledge on the latest changes or at least slow in making the needed changes.

This is my first experience with Magento. I downloaded the software three day's ago and have spent the majority of the time researching this issue. I hope that future issues are not as frustrating and poorly supported.]]> #4 / Comment by Nath

I too have had this issue and have had to roll back to flash player 9, which means I either have to wait for a fix before I go live or go live with the risk of being exploited.

Redletter installing Flash 9 IS NOT SOLUTION.

I know about this errors weeks, and Magento didn't? What's the problem? Why nobody fix it? Varien telling their clients just install Flash 9, we don't care? I don't understand why nobody patch it immidiately. It's serious problem for all of us, and i exptected much flexible solution from Varien, e.g. priority patch or something.

Magento 1.1.6 was released on September 17th
Flash 10 was released on October 14th

It looks like this issue is being scheduled to be resolved with the next release.
What more could you want?

I can confirm that this is still a problem with 1.1.7. I've tried Firefox v3 and Safari. Image upload buttons do nothing. I had Flash 10 installed and even re-installed it and the buttons still failed to do anything.
