If you go to manage attributes and add size as an attribute, properly set it up for use layered navigation, add labels small, medium and large, save, then create a new attribute set Lingerie Styles, Add size and color attributes, save. Load a products including configurable products link associated products, anchor the category and set active. Color will display in layered navigation because is was creating by you all, but the new Size attribute doesn't display with configurable products

If i change the simple products that make the configurable product visible (set it to Catalog, Search) the attributes (colour for example) show up filterable as expected.
