I’m on my second day using Magento - so please pardon my ignorance. I’ve browsed the forum trying to igure out how to customize things - everywhere I look someone pointing to a certain directory or file. My question is how do I get there? I do not see anywhere in the admin where it allows you to get to a certain directory. Can someone please explain to me how to get to the files/directories within Magento?

It depends on what exactly you want to customise.

You could try, for example, turning the template path hints on.

To do that, go to your admin and then navigate to:
system>>configuration>>developer

Now, change the “Current Configuration Scope” (top left box) from default to your store view. New option shows up under Debug sub-menu. “Template Path Hints” - turn it on, click save, and now browse your store.
