Hi,

I am having some issues with the size of our store database and have troubleshooted this to the size of the logs.
Unfortunately I am unable to setup cron jobs on my server even though it is available in our magento admin area.

To get round this I have been using a site called https://www.setcronjob.com which has worked for me when setting up for a different job I had (smush.it extension).

I have taken a php script example for log cleaning from this page http://www.crucialwebhost.com/kb/magneto-log-and-cache-maintenance-script/ and placed it in the appropriate place on our server.

My question is basically will calling this cron job from the external site (https://www.setcronjob.com) work with the html addresses quoted on the help page I stated?
These are;

http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/cleanup.php?clean=log
http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/cleanup.php?clean=var

Hopefully someone here has some experience in using this method.

Unfortunately I am unable to backup before doing this as the last time we backed up through Magento as the db was so large it crashed out and we lost considerable sales over the weekend period. Because of this I am hesitant so any advice etc is most appreciated.~

Please accept my apologies if I have explained anything wrong etc. - I am around less than average in my magento / cron / php knowledge.

Mike

Hi,

To monitor cron tasks status you may checkout Magento Errors Extension. It will help you monitor cron issues and see error if there any.

Thanks
