Thank you for posting the SQL. They are really helpful.

I have a general question about Malaysia.

I found that some abbreviations for the states are slightly different from Wikipedia.

For example, according to the SQL, the abbreviation for Johor is JOH, but Wikipedia says JHR.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_and_federal_territories_of_Malaysia

Which is correct? (Or which is more commonly used?)

The following is the list from the SQL.

Johor: JOH
Kedah: KDH
Kelantan: KEL
Melaka: MEL
Negeri Sembilan: NS
Pahang: PAH
Perak: PRK
Perlis: PER
Pulau Pinang: PP
Sabah: SAB
Sarawak: SWK
Selangor: SEL
Terengganu: TER
Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur: KL
Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan: LAB
Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya: PUT

This one is from Wikipedia.

Johor:JHR
Kedah:KDH
Kelantan:KTN
Malacca:MLK
Negeri Sembilan:NSN
Pahang:PHG
Perak:PRK
Perlis:PLS
Pulau Penang:PNG
Sabah:SBH
Sarawak:SWKSelangor:SGR
Terengganu:TRG
Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur:KUL
Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan:LBN
Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya:PJY

Thank you in advance!

Hi all,

I’ve updated the SQL based on shambie’s original SQL and sanoju’s suggestions to use the official state codes from Wikipedia.

I’ve also updated the SQL so that it doesn’t hardcode the region_id. It is now done dynamically.

Just a few things you need to ensure before running this script:
1. Perform a database backup. It’s a good measure in case anything screws up.
2. Double check the table names. I insert the data into directory_country_region and directory_country_region_name. Some databases have a table prefix, like mage_directory_country_region. Add the prefix to the script accordingly.
3. Only run this script once! If you have run this script (or the older script) before, do not run it again!

And yes, this works on Magento version 1.7.x

If you guys need any help with this, do drop me a PM as I do not regularly check these forums.
