Yes, i am also get like this error..

When i View the customer section in admin section i got this error message as Javascript popup.

Here the error message.

error: error in [unknown object].fireEvent():
event name: address_country_changed
error message: zipElement.up(1).down("label > span.required") is undefined

I Find that line in app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/customer/tab/addresses.phtml on line: 191

varienGlobalEvents.fireEvent("address_country_changed", countryElement);

Any one have comments related to this.. if any one help for this, i appreciate.

Thanks,.

You have marked the ZIP as 0 (in the required field) in the database. Instead set this back to 1 and in configiration > General choose your countries where zip is not required and save.

Should start working then

On the “eav_attribute” table, changing the “postcode” field is_required = 1 gets rid of the javascript error in the admin viewing customer details but makes the following error popup when registering a new customer account on the frontend:

“Zip/Postal Code” is a required value.

The reason someone would have changed “postcode” field is_required = 1 to 0 in the first place is to stop the Zip/Postal Code field from being required so people can register without entering a Zip/Postal Code.
This optional Zip codes for specified countries function doesn’t seem to work properly in onepagecheckout.
It seems like all solutions to this issue either get rid of the admin error and make post code required or else give you an error in the admin and makes post code on frontend not required.

Is there a fix to both these issues?

thanks

I decide to do my own fix. Here it is:

1. Open the file app\design\adminhtml\default\default\template\directory\js\optional_zip_countries.phtml

2. Navigate approximately to line 57.

3. Find the function setPostcodeOptional(zipElement, country)

4. Find the following line: zipElement.up(1).down(\\\’label > span.required\\\’).hide();

5. Change it to the following code:

var zipElementLabel = zipElement.up(1).down(\\\’label > span.required\\\’);
if (zipElementLabel)
zipElementLabel.hide();

6. Find the following line: zipElement.up(1).down(\\\’label > span.required\\\’).show();

5. Change it to the following code:

var zipElementLabel = zipElement.up(1).down(\\\’label > span.required\\\’);
if (zipElementLabel)
zipElementLabel.show();

Notice that this code repeats two times inside the function, but differs a little bit in \\\"hide()\\\" and \\\"show()\\\" calls at the end.

6. Save the file and upload to the server. Page reload might be required.

This helped me fighting the mentioned error in Magento version 1.5.0.1. I know that this is against Magento policy to modify core files directly, but this seems the only way to fix this annoying error right now.
