changing servers - data import

I’m transferring my magento store over to a new server and I have tried a simple database backup and restore from the old to the new.  Everything seems to work fine except my attributes.  I have many configurable products with 2 attributes and none of them seem to work on the new server after the database restore.

It appears as though my id’s are not lining up correctly. It looks like it is looking for an attribute from a product that doesn’t exist ...or should I say exists but it is looking for it with the wrong id due to the database import.

This is the error I am getting:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getAttributeCode() on a non-object in /home/onlyecom/public_html/magento/app/code/core/Mage/Catalog/Model/Product/Type/Configurable.php on line 326

What is the best practice when doing something like this?
