Hi, I think I had this problem a while ago. Its to do with an pear.ini file containing old host root info. I found solution in forum. The file is in downloader and needs to be Backed up then deleted.  (if this isnt the problem ignore my post).

What I did:
downloader/pearlib/pear.ini I backed up pear.ini (changed the name to pearold) refreshed cache and it worked!

Hope this works for you… MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP PEAR.INI for safety.

Thanks! That seems to have got me past the Magento Connect upgrade. I successfully ran the update using “magento-core/Mage_All_Latest”. Unfortunately, I now get a 500 server error on the site. One thing I thought strange is that there was no new /downloader/pearlib/pear.ini created during the upgrade process.

Anyone have thoughts on what might be causing the 500 Internal Server error? I successfully installed a fresh full install of 1.1.3 with a new database using the sample-data-1.12 package. Is it possible that the problem is due to the data from the prior install?

Thanks for any help.

I got the 500 Internal Server error sorted thanks to another tip. It seems that Magento Connect messes with the permissions. I ran the following via SSH which fixed the permissions:

find ./ -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
find ./ -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;

Hi,

I installed magento 1.1.6 version. When I go Admin->System->Magento Connect Manager in admin panel, This page is not opening and showing blank page. Why can’t I see this page? I am not able to install any new extentions without it.

Here is the error
http://x225.xicom.us/~csex/magento/downloader/?return=http://x225.xicom.us/~csex/magento/index.php/admin/

Thanks
