Is it possible to protect the /admin directory with an .htaccess password for increased security?

I would assume mod_rewrite rewrites to a subdir in the file three, anyone knows where /admin points to and if a .htaccess would work here?

Kind regards

I tried to reply yesterday but the forum just returned a blank page…

I’d think that you’d be able to password protect the admin directory in your server management app (Plesk in my case).  Create a user and password for that directory and when you attempt to access it, you should be prompted for the directory password, then have to login as you normally would to the admin.  Double security punch.

/admin does not exist as filesystem folder, so I’m not sure if apache will allow http password protection for virtual directory.
