Hi there,

I have problems trying to import products into magento. I made:

1) Create a sample product into Magento admin

2) Export All products to csv

3) Using this Csv I have created more products

4) When I import i get:

* Starting profile execution, please wait…
* Warning: Please don’t close window during importing/exporting data

* Starting Mage_Dataflow_Model_Convert_Parser_Xml_Excel :: parse
* Found 0 rows
* Starting catalog/convert_adapter_product :: parse

Other Way

1) Created a new profile with custom attribute with custom fileds
2) Using filemaker export this file to csv
3) IMport using new profile get the same problem:

* Starting profile execution, please wait…
* Warning: Please don’t close window during importing/exporting data

* Starting Mage_Dataflow_Model_Convert_Parser_Xml_Excel :: parse
* Found 0 rows
* Starting catalog/convert_adapter_product :: parse

I have tried to import csv and xml and i always get the same problem.

Any help?

I’m having the same problem.  It doesn’t report an error, it simply hangs up at “Starting catalog/convert_adapter_product :: parse” and never completes the process.

I will try tonight. Haven’t thought about using FileMaker to transform CSV files.

Same problem:

First exported all products from Magento.
Then imported in FileMaker
Imported CSV file from my distributor (default values for Magento are filled on import)
Exported CSV with field names in first row (same as export from Magento)
Then imported:

* Starting profile execution, please wait…
* Warning: Please don’t close window during importing/exporting data

* Starting Mage_Dataflow_Model_Convert_Parser_Csv :: parse
* Found 0 rows
* Starting catalog/convert_adapter_product :: parse

Then nothing…

Have tried with Magento 1.1 alpha (installed from svn), but it doesn’t work with that version either.

Anybody?

* Found 0 rows
* Starting catalog/convert_adapter_product :: parse

Then nothing else happens.

I solved my problem.
I modified the store view and I use only XML.

I think I found the zero rows problem.

When comparing the csv format from magento and the csv format when saved by excel, when you try to export a csv file from excel (mac) the values aren’t enclosed in quotes “ “.

I was able to export using xml and it updates fine.

I struggled for a long time with this. Eventually I tried it out with a .xml file and it worked wonderfully…

Yeah it seems like there is some character set difference weirdness.  You probably could clean out the files, but what the heck, if the XML export works, great!

CSV from excel are pretty bad, you need to re-encode the file in utf8 with notepad++ for exemple. Try also to use other enclosed value ( # ) and separator ( | ).

So many problems with the import/export feature at present...but as I am not a coder, all I can do is encourage the Magento team who are doing such a fantastic job!

I got the import/export business working by:

1. Using the default Export All Products profile and making sure to set the file name ending to .XML not .XLS
2. Using Excel to edit the file.
3. Using the default Import All Products profile to import.

Local/Remote Server was my Data Transfer Setting. Pushing the files to var/export and pulling them from var/import worked for me.

Hello, I’m Magento’s newbie.
Is there an option that allow no overwrite of the product in catalog?
When I import from file .csv, I overwrite all :(

how I managed to import a product by exporting products first, modifying it, and importing it back:

1. Create a new Import Profile:
Entity Type: Products
Direction: Import
Data Transfer: Interactive
Data Format: CSV
Value Delimiter: ,
Enclose Values In: “
Original Magento attribute names in first row: No

2. Click “Save and Continue Editing”

3. Create your CSV file:
a. It’s okay to start with Excel, but after you save as CSV, modify it
b. Enclose all fields in “ “
c. Keep your Short Description short.
d. Keep top header row with attribute names.

4. Try your import
a. In your Import Profile, click “Upload File” on the left menu
b. Browse and select your file
c. Click “Save and Continue Editing”
d. Click “Run Profile” in the menu on the left
e. Select the file you uploaded in the dropdown menu.
f. Click “Run Profile in Popup”

YOu won’t see “0 row” issue.
