I think this question goes to the magento developers but anyone is free to contribute

Do you think are there any plans to change the way magento handles information and will the future versions be back compatible? (ie would the exported products from v 1.x be imported w/o any issues to, say, v 2.x ?)

secondly, with oscmax I used the bulk upload contribution quite frequently, my question is, will there be any specific interface for this purpose or the import function will itself just suffice?

and… i may be asking for too much but a desktop client for easy product submit would be great.
