I just try installing magento just now. I downloaded the magento 1.0.19870. This is what happened, after LOCALIZATION, in the CONFIG page I got this <red><b>php extension “curl” must be loaded</b></red> This is my 1st time using Magento. What does this message mean? I couldn’t figure it out. Please help me.

A quick search for curl on this site brought this:

There’s plenty more if that doesn’t explain it properly for you.

I still couldn’t understand.

Magento requires “curl” PHP extension.

Installation instructions depend on your hosting. If it is your local computer, you could follow links provided by Ron or http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/Installing-on-Windows-with-XAMPP-and-WAMP/

If it is shared hosting, you could follow these instructions for CGI solution: http://www.magentocommerce.com/knowledge-base/entry/installing-magento-on-a-php4-server
