Hi there

I have been adding products to my catalog (I must have about 20 in there at the moment, maybe 2 pics per product and all pics are optimised before I upload, all with maximum of 90kb at highest resolution).

Whilst adding a configurable product the back-end hung, as did the front end (blank pages when I did a refresh.

I logged into the admin panel and noticed I am somehow using 200mb (my limit) of disk space! I know Magento is a big baby from the start, but only 2 days ago I had 30mb free. I thought this would be adequate for the time being. Since then I have only added maybe 3 products, so I don’t understand where all my disk space has gone?!?

Can I delete anything to free some up? My email is held by another provider so it’s not that.

Any suggestions?

Why don’t you get a higher limit?
It is not advisable to have only 200mb for magento commerce.
Your site may grow bigger. It will also be a pain when other issues related to space limit arise.

So how much space does the ‘average’ store use up?

Yes you need more space. It is not wrth the risk of creating errors that could be hard to fix. Sometime the log files (nothing to do with Magento) can get close to 100MB by themselves and if you list the file the first line it says something along the lines of ‘mess with this at your own risk’.

I would recommend you to have at least 1GB of space. It is ‘safer’ that way.
Besides, this will also be less troublesome when you site needs to grow.
