Magento 503 Service Unavailable Error - Help Needed

I recently installed an SSL certificate and changed the settings of Magento to use SSL. I selected “Yes” for “Frontend” and “Backend.”

However, after I found out that Magento did not use the SSL connection by default, I changed something further which completely messed up my store i.e. I do not have access to it any longer and get the “503 Service Unavailable” error.

The last thing I changed under System > Configuration > Web was I changed the

-Secure-

Base URL: {{base_url}}

to > Base URL: {{secure_base_url}}

I would like to know if I can revert the settings or change them by manually accessing the specific files or databases that store the settings.

Help is much appreciated and urgently needed.

Thanks!!!

I would basically like to know how I can change/revert the settings via the database or whatever other file contains the settings.

Can this be done? It would be quite a hassle having to reinstall and reconfigure the whole things just because of a “mishap” with the settings.

can u define the lost access to admin panel ?
how does it go?

if you unable to login, try to change the user table in database.

or maybe you can try to change this file :

app\etc\distro.xml

or

app\code\core\Mage\Core\etc\config.xml

hope it helps !

Hi Joke,

I lost access to everything. Regardless of which I page I try to access, wether it be frontend or backend, I always get the 503 Service Unavailable error.

I also checked the 2 files you mentioned but they all seem correct. Maybe I have to check in the database?

Can you give me URL for reference?

Maybe you can try to modify the .htaccess file .

503 Service unavailable error is usually the server down problem.

I also deleted .htaccess.sample and index.php.samlple a while ago, I don’t think that would cause the problem would it?

I am also reverting my database to an earlier working version to see if the error is caused by settings in the database.

503 is generally a planned outage error.

Look in the root directory of your magento install for a file named “maintenance.flag” if there is one just rename it maintenance.flag.bak or delete it. Once it’s changed your site will work again.

I have seen this problem regarding Error 503 Unavailable service.
And check root folder, where one file created maintance.flag.
I have removed this file and resolve this problem
