Hi ,

My website is under construction and I don’t want other visitors to see the site, or have search engine spiders indexing pages that are not yet completed.

I’m not sure How,and where I should replace .htaccess file in magento??

Is that right ???

order allow deny
deny from all
allow from 00.000.000

???????? Please help smile

hi.
You can use Maintenance mode for your site, it can be used when your site is under construction, or when changes are being made.
To use Maintenance Mode:
Step1: Select System > Configuration.
Step2: In the Configuration panel on the left, under General, select Maintenance Mode.
Step3: Click to expand the Maintenance Mode Options section. And,
Set Enable Maintenance Mode to “Yes.”
Set Maintenance Mode Page to “503 Service Unavailable.”
Step4: In the Whitelist field, enter your IP address, so you can access your store while others are redirected to the “Service Unavailable” page.
Step5: When complete, click the Save Config button.
