What I need to be able to do is have multiple stores with multiple products where the customer can purchase any item from any of the various stores and upon checkout receive only ONE receipt with only ONE s&h;charge.
In our business we deal directly with record labels and each record label needs to have its very own store with its very own layout and design. We also need to have a main site where customers can see all products from all record labels and add items to their cart from all the record labels and checkout only once with one invoice and one s&h;charge, yet on the back-end of things it needs separates the items purchased by record label so that we can track sales and pay the labels accordingly. Though, the pick list for each order should look very much like the invoice the customer receives where all products (regardless of label association) are listed on the SAME invoice. Another important thing is that regardless of if the customer purchases 15 items from 15 different record labels that only ONE single order number be generated. We do not need them split up except for in the back-end for accounting purposes only.
For an easier to understand example of this, please see the following links:
http://shopsolid.com/ <---this is the main “hub” where customers can order items from all labels. it has a generic design regardless of what label you browse.
agave records (on shopsolid.com) <---this is an example of a specific record label’s store that is fully customized, but if customers chose to do so, they could theoretically go to shopsolid.com and add products from all the other record labels to their cart and proceed to checkout and only be charged once for s&h;and receive only one invoice for the entire order regardless of how many different record labels they ordered from.
