Magento

I am having a problem with the length of categories and sub categories names. Is there a maximum length? Using the modern theme at the moment, I have a category called “stamping and embossing” and a sub category with the 26 charactures (including spaces) and in the category drop down the sub category isnt renderd. but the link is still there, however when clicking this, I get a 404 error?

Any help would be appreciated.
