Magento functionality question

I’m brand new to Magento but it looks like an amazing alternative to zen cart!

I have a client who needs a shopping cart and I want to ensure that Magento will do what I need it to.

She has multiple products and each product has multiple color options.  She needs to track inventory of each product BY color the color option.

For example, product A comes in red, green and blue.  She has inventory of 10 red, 8 green and 9 blue.

Can Magento handle that kind of inventory tracking?  Or, would she have to create separate products for “product a - red”, “product a - blue” etc.  ???

Also, is Magento a lot easier and faster to style than Zen Cart?  I sure hope so.

Thanks!

Hi Marglar,

Check these videos from Magento - they should give you what you are looking for:

and

http://www.magentocommerce.com/media/screencasts/configurable-products/view

Out of the box, Magento looks about a million times better than Zen Cart - but you will need at least basic HTML/CSS knowledge to customise it to your needs. The admin part is also much, much better than Zen Cart’s - but as everything new, it takes getting used to, and everything is not where you expect it to be.

Good luck!
