After upgrading to 1.4.0.0 and 1.4.0.1 I am having issue with updating products description, images and design tabs. When I update the Image or the design tabs it actually changes the title of the product to the image name or the template name. The Description just reverts back like it wont save. Anyone having the same issue or better yet a workaround or fix ? Thanks in advance

I have the same problem with CMS pages. Can you check your CMS pages? I will check my products pages and get back to you. At least you could export & import your products. Can’t do that with CMS pages. I am using phpMyAdmin to update CMS pages in the interim.

My CMS page saving issue seems to have resolved itself. I don’t know if it was some session issue or what. I tried about 10 times yesterday to save and it wouldn’t. Just tried now after testing product descriptions and now it’s working fine.

I am experiencing this issue...It seems there is an error when trying to submit the form.  Does anyone know what table the descriptions are in so we can update them via the database until this gets resolved?

I am having the same issue it seems.  I am needing to pull out some of the description text and put it into a new textarea attribute.  When I hit save, it appears to have saved (and it says it did), but when I go back into the product, the entire description is still there (plus the text I removed), and the text I moved into the new textarea attribute is completely gone.

Hi Guys,

Can you provide dump of your DB without any critical information for you (customers, orders, etc) ?

Hi All,

I think I can shed some light here.

Did a recent upgrade to 1.4 and had the same issue.

Here’s what I know.

The existing site has the following configuration

PHP 5.2.11, MYSQL 5.0.89

Duplicated exact copy of files and database moved the site to a different host with the following configuration:

PHP Version 5.2.12, MYSQL 5.1.41-3~bpo50+1

IT WORKS! Savings works as intended, images, descriptions, whole deal.

In addition I ran the Magento DB repair script which found some minor issues in both configurations but does not fix the problem on the old configuration server

So it looks like some kind of compatibility issue.

Upgraded PHP and MYSQL on host. Still have the issue, so its something else thats causing the problem.  Thought there may be a primary key issue on import, but it doesn’t seem like it. DB repair script finds no problems. Did a direct restore from magento backup. This doesn’t solve the problem.

So I still have one installation that works and one that does not

Anybody else find a resolution?

Hello,

I have the same problem with 1.4.0.1, but, unfortunately, my hosting provider does not support higher versions of PHP and MySQL. I am ready to switch to another hosting provider, but I would like to know if anybody found out the root cause of this problem, so I will know what to look for.

Have the host look into mod_security settings .  We found the problem to related to restrictive settings with mod_security php module.

My dev site has worked OK for a few weeks but today it broke.

The descriptions on the front end won\’t change no matter what I do.

I can edit the descriptions in the admin and everything says they have saved, I can restart the PC and the updates are there OK in admin.

I have flushed every cache I can think of and deleted sessions.

The only way I can force changes is by an import to actually overwrite the db.

What I can say is that I think the problem started after I enabled the WSIWYG editor which I have now disabled.

I noticed that Cheeseandrice posted an issue on the tracker:

http://www.magentocommerce.com/bug-tracking/issue?issue=8909

I urge you all to submit comments for this one.  This is a critical urgent flaw that needs to be addressed immediately.
